Albert Sterling Davis III, Dalton, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday morning. His widow is the former Dr. Patricia Ann Charney. The couple had been married 57 years.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Albert Sterling Davis II and Marion Phillips Davis. He was a 1966 graduate of Abington Heights High School and then served his country in the United States Army, where he was an E5 Army helicopter crew chief. Prior to his retirement, he was a self-employed contractor and also owned the Daily Grind Coffee Shop in Carbondale. He attended Our Lady of the Abingtons Church. He loved to travel, cruise, and enjoy music with his family. His favorite teams were the Seattle Seahawks, New York Yankees, and Ohio State football.
Also surviving are four daughters: Dr. Gretchen and her husband Dr. Timothy Welby, Jennifer Casey, Dr. Suzanne and her husband Chris Cercone, Amber and Craig Trunzo; and two sons, Albert IV and his wife Michele Davis and Attorney Adam and wife Kelly Davis; grandchildren: Casey, Kate, and Caroline Welby; Colin Casey; Taylor, CJ, and Evan Cercone; Jade and Ethan Trunzo; and Izabella and Albert Davis, V; and sisters Sally Ludgate, Gail English, Holly Cavalieri, and Laura Balko; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter; and two sisters Lynn Creamer and Kathy Young.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday at 11 am at Our Lady of the Abingtons, to be celebrated by Rev. Arbogaste Satoun. Those attending Mass should go directly to the church. A viewing will be held on Friday from 3 pm to 5 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Interment will be held privately at Fairlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Griffin Pond Animal Shelter or Our Lady of the Abingtons Church.
