Albert Greene “Charlie” Slocum, Jr., 79, of Chesapeake, passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2022.
Born in Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Albert G. Slocum, Sr. and Frances Jean Slocum. Charlie retired from the U.S. Navy, after 28.5 years of honorable service as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He later retired as a Sergeant with the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office. For the last twenty years, he was an instructor at Academi, formerly Blackwater USA. He was twice a Past Master of the North Esk Mariners Lodge No. 1676, Scotland.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 51 years, Barbara Jean Slocum; children, Jean Santiago (Nelson), Albert “Scott” Slocum, III, Matthew Slocum (Megs), Mark Slocum (Virginia); grandchildren, Autumn, Alex, Greg, Savannah, Shayna, Blake, Bella, Jaxon, Benjamin, Charlotte; siblings, Edmund Slocum and Debra Montross, as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.
The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Great Bridge Baptist Church, Chesapeake. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery Tunkhannock, PA.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, Chesapeake. Friends are invited to sign the online guest book and to view the service via livestream at www.omanfh.com
