Alice Green

Alice June Green, 87, of Falls passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023. Born Alice June Faux in Falls, PA on June 20, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Blanche (Coolbaugh) Faux and Francis H. Faux. She was the beloved wife of Charles Barry Green for 65 years.

She graduated from Tunkhannock Area High School in 1954. Alice earned a Bachelor's degree in Secondary Mathematics Education in 1958 from Bloomsburg State Teachers College.

She met her husband when he offered her a ride home from the Bloomsburg Fair, and she insists she would not have agreed if it wasn't raining. Since then, they have traveled extensively together, in their trusty and sometimes not so trusty RV, visiting all 50 states along with Costa Rica and Panama.

Alice was a middle school math teacher and taught in several school districts including Philadelphia and Rose Tree Media, where to the chagrin of her children she often was a substitute teacher in their classrooms.

She was a member and treasurer of Dymond Hollow United Methodist Church for many years until its closing. She was a member of the Centermoreland United Methodist Church.

She moved back to her childhood home in 1990 and has been a constant positive presence to all of her nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. For the past 30 years, Alice often spent Christmas morning with her niece and nephew.

In her retirement she and her husband started a successful Christmas Tree Farm and sold trees for twenty years. They also volunteered for the American Cancer Society driving patients to their appointments.

She was a devoted and loving mother to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and she proudly attended over 25 graduations as she never missed a single one.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons and their wives: Barry (Debbie), Brian (Arlene), Brent (Susanne), Bruce (Duey) and her grandchildren Michael (Kelly), Jenna (Aaron), Matt (KhanhMy), Rachael, Arizona, Brad, Dylan, Rebecca and Kai and her great grandchildren Reese, Nora and Natalie.

She was predeceased by her sisters Thelma Firestine, Marion Faux and her brothers Donald Faux and Russell Faux.

Family and friends are invited to attend Alice's funeral service which will be held on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at 10:30AM from the Centermoreland United Methodist Church, 17 Creamery Road, Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. Harold Schorr presiding.

A viewing will be held from 9:30AM until the time of service.
