Allan Myers, Jr., 60, of Falls Township passed peacefully at his home on Wednesday after a long illness. His wife is the former Sharon Jacoby. The couple have been married over 38 years.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of Barbara Winters Wetzel and the late Allan Myers. He was a 1981 graduate of Abington Heights High School and worked over 38 years at Cascade Tissue, Ransom Township. He was a master mason in the Waverly Lodge #301 F.&A.M., a 32nd degree mason in the Scottish Rite.

Al loved fly fishing, hunting, cooking, and spending time with family and friends in Alaska.  He enjoyed running, and completed the Steamtown marathon, qualifying for the Boston marathon, with a time of 3:08. One of Al's greatest joys in life was gardening and sharing his homemade goods with family, friends, and neighbors. Most of all, he loved spending time with his wife, Sharon, who he loved dearly.

Al's warm personality and friendly nature made him a beloved figure in the lives of many. He will be remembered for his willingness to help others and ability to make friends and great memories wherever he would go.

In addition to his wife and his mother, he is survived by five brothers, Scott and wife Susan of Collingswood, NJ, Mark and wife Ellen of Clarks Summit, Dean and wife Donna of Newton Township, Ron and wife Christie of Pittsburgh, and Doug and wife Elke of Nicholson; stepmother Pat Myers; two stepbrothers, Scott Bird and wife Brooke of Florida, and Jason Bird of Newton Township; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A funeral will be held on Tuesday at 11 am at Countryside Community Church,14011 Orchard Drive, Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. James Hollister, Pastor.

Friends may call on Monday from 5 pm to 7 pm at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Team Gleason Foundation, PO Box 24493, New Orleans, LA 70184.
