Andrew "Andy" LaCoe, 60, of Scranton, passed away Friday, April 17th.
Born in Newton Ransom, Andy was a man shaped by simple beginnings and strong values. A farmer at heart, he carried that work ethic with him throughout his life, including his many years working at Alleima. No matter what life threw his way, Andy was the kind of man who always found a way. And if you needed him, he showed up—no questions asked.
To know Andy was to know someone who truly loved life. He loved being surrounded by family and friends, especially if it meant firing up the grill and spending the day laughing, eating, and just being together. He had a deep love for the outdoors and found peace in nature—whether he was kayaking, fishing, or simply enjoying the quiet and simplicity of it. Some of his happiest moments were spent on the water or out in the fresh air, taking it all in.
Andy is survived by his mother, Mary Beverly "Nana"; his devoted wife Jeanine; his daughters, Marie and partner Garret, Melony, and Mandy and partner Pranav; and his granddaughter, Anika, who brought him so much pride and joy. He is also survived by his brother, Michael; his sisters, Evelyn, Julie and partner John, and Kate and husband Edgar; and many nieces and nephews who meant the world to him. He enjoyed games with Gavin, fixing cars with Scott, and displaying Dee's artwork.
He was preceded in death by his father, Butch; and his brother, Frank.
Andy wasn't just someone you knew—he was someone you could count on. He was steady, loyal, and present in the moments that mattered. The kind of person who made life feel a little easier just by being there.
He will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. His stories, his laughter, and the way he showed up for the people he loved will carry on in all of us.
Dad, thank you for always being there and always finding a way. We love you forever.
