Angela Casey Marshall, Delray Beach, Florida, formerly of Dalton, Pennsylvania, died on October 21, 2024 in her home in Delray Beach, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband C. Richard Marshall who died in 1997.
Born in Scranton, Angela was the daughter of the late Cyril A. Casey and Grace O'Brien Casey. She was also the granddaughter of Joseph O'Brien and PJ Casey, who founded the landmark Hotel Casey. Her father created the first "Car Park," the Casey Parkway for guests of the famous Scranton landmark hotel. She was a graduate of Marywood Seminary and a 1956 graduate of Marymount College in Tarrytown, New York where she majored in music and minored in business.
She was formerly employed as the Director of Aftercare at Marworth Treatment Center in Waverly, Pennsylvania. In this role, her dedication to recovering Alcoholics and Drug addicts was profound. Her responsibility was to find after-care for the patients who completed treatment and were then to go back to their hometowns to continue their sobriety journey. As the program by nature is "anonymous", she really could not discuss her day "at the Office." Only known to her and the staff of Marworth, and the recovering themselves, Angela was instrumental in helping thousands of people from all over the world. From the blue-collar workers, to the most renowned public professionals, she in many cases was their link to continued sobriety. A mission she lived her entire remaining 50 years. She was a member of St. Gregory, Clarks Green, and a board member of the Little Hill Alina Lodge in Blairstown, New Jersey. She served from 1989 to 2002 attaining the title of board president.
Angela was highly active in the community. She was a member of the Junior League of Scranton. Angela had a great love for dogs as well as sports. She played field hockey and basketball in high school and her talent as a piano player led to her college major of music. In her later years, she took up croquet with her husband and friends and played in her "whites" at the Waverly Country Club where she is a member.
Angela was a devoted wife and mother. Her strong faith guided her through her life and her sense of humor was legendary and ever present.
Surviving is a daughter, Susan Marshall of Boynton Beach, Florida; seven nieces and nephews, Ann Kavanagh Wolf, Kate Gerrity, Katy Kavanagh Burnett, Edward J. Gerrity III, Alison Casey Kosak, Christopher Casey, Anna Elizabeth (Libby) Casey Lynett and eleven great nieces and nephews and four great-great nieces and nephews.
Angela had countless friends and her greatest friends in this world were Mary Griffin, Mary Fran Walsh, and Beverly Labelle. They met while at Marywood Seminary and remained best friends for more than 72 years.
In addition to her parents, she was also proceeded in death by her two sisters, Katharine Casey Gerrity and Grace "Toppy" Casey Kavanagh, and a brother, C. Robert Casey.
The family wishes to thank Ms. Bendu Glasgow, longtime aide to Angela for her care and love for Angela, her medical team in Delray Beach, the team at Senior Helpers of Florida for their long standing assistance to Angela and Trustbridge Hospice in West Palm Beach Florida.
