Anna Mae Pritchyk of Ransom Township, passed away Thursday evening. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Scranton on November 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Anna Kolcun Savka. She was raised in Taylor and was a 1952 graduate of Taylor High School. From 1952 to 1966, she was employed at the Scranton Dry Goods in the Credit Office handling the payroll accounts. Upon the birth of her first child, she became a full time stay at home mom to raise her children. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be profoundly missed.
A devout Catholic all her life, she was a faithful member of the Church of St. Benedict. Together with her husband, she was instrumental in organizing the Cross Committee which led to the beautiful wooden cross that hangs behind the altar. She was dedicated and committed to volunteering her time and energy to the parish's Country Bazaar for 27 years.
Surviving are a daughter, Jo Ann and partner, Jerry Scott, Ransom Township; two grandsons, Joe and Jake Pritchyk; a daughter-in-law, Margo Pritchyk, all of Newton Township; a sister, Mary Rose Klimowski, Camden, Delaware; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband on August 4, 2011 and her son, Joseph Christopher Pritchyk, on November 21, 2004. In addition, two sisters, Madelyn Trygar and Margaret Macheska, and one brother, John Savka, preceded her in death.
Without question, Anna Mae's heart broke when her son passed, and it broke again when her husband passed. We are comforted in knowing that her heart is now whole again as she has been reunited with them as well as with the rest of her loved ones.
The family would like to thank the staff of the inpatient unit of the Hospice of the Sacred Heart. They are truly angels on Earth who treated Anna Mae with the utmost care, compassion, and dignity in her final days.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Church of St. Benedict, 1849 Newton Ransom Boulevard, Newton Township. Interment will follow in Milwaukee Cemetery. Friends may call Monday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
