Annette Kermidas of Scranton, passed away peacefully on Friday, which also happened to be her sister Lucille's birthday.
Annette was born on February 18, 1935 in Montrose, Pennsylvania to George and Bessie Kermidas. At the age of 10, their family moved to Scranton. She graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1953. Annette began her career at International Correspondence School in Scranton before moving to New York City in 1956. She loved to shop, living in the fashion capital of the world, and was always dressed to the nines. In New York, she embarked on a 35-year career at Citibank until her retirement in 1993. She was very proud of her years at the bank, having risen through the ranks and acting as a mentor and role model for many young professionals.
Following her retirement, she moved back to Scranton. She loved spending time with her friends, but most of all cherished her time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews and their families. Aunt Annette never missed a birthday or a special event with a card and a gift. In recent years, she would attend many school functions and sporting events to cheer on the next generation. Despite the challenges of aging gracefully, she loved attending First Friday, a good sale at Talbots, Broadway Theater and never missed that weekly hair appointment, even in blizzard conditions.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, John (Bessie), Stanley (Betty), James (Johanna), and three sisters, Pauline (Steve), Jean (Andreas) and Lucille (Frank). She is survived by her loving extended family, as well as close friends and caring neighbors.
