Anthony "Tony" Thomas Odzana died Wednesday at Abington Manor. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, wife Patricia.
Born and raised in Taylor to the late Anthony and Genevieve Grabowski Odzana, Tony was a 1959 graduate of Taylor High School and went on to serve in the United States Army. He was a longtime custodian with the Abington Heights School District at both the Grove Street and Waverly Elementary schools. He enjoyed driving bus for the Scranton School district for more than 30 years. Tony loved watching sports and especially cheered for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Phillies. He enjoyed betting and watching horse racing. He religiously played the lottery, always believing that he was due to win. Prior to his illness, his best times were spent taking the three amigos (granddogs: Belle, Chase and Cody) for rides down to the river and sitting on his front porch talking to anyone who would listen.
He is survived by his daughter, Michele and husband, James Loughney; son, Brett and wife, Stephanie Odzana: three beloved granddaughters, Kelsey, Jamie and Kylie Loughney, who helped take care of their Papa; and a loving grandson, Jayden Odzana; two stepchildren, Scott (Jackie) Hayes, Debbie (Dan) Uronis and their families; brothers, Fran, Walter and Kenny; sisters, Jeanie Davies, Joanie McGinnis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by siblings, Thomas, James, Sharon and Carol.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Abington Manor for their wonderful care and the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for providing him with comfort in his last months. Tony did not like flowers but loved dogs. Please consider donating to the Griffin Pond Animal Shelter in his memory in lieu of flowers.
