Audrey E. Woodyatt, South Abington Township, passed away peacefully Monday evening April 13th at Allied Hospice, Scranton. She was the widow of the late Philip Henry Woodyatt, Jr., who passed away in 1982.
Born in Peckville, Audrey was the daughter of the late Ralph and Millicent Opie Schroeder and was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Schroeder. She was a 1956 graduate of Blakely High School. After getting married in 1964, she moved to Chinchilla where she remained for the rest of her life.
Prior to retirement, she was a secretary for the Abington Heights School District for over 40 years at both the High School and Middle School. She loved her work at the school and was a fixture at football and basketball games, band and chorus concerts, and school plays. Post retirement, she enjoyed staying connected with her many friends and neighbors, monthly lunches with the "girls from school", and keeping up with her five grandchildren. An active member of her community, she volunteered at numerous school activities at township elections for many years.
Audrey was a longtime member of Peckville Baptist Church and was involved with many groups including her beloved Choir. Most recently, she attended Jackson Street Baptist Church in Scranton and enjoyed all of the activities including her lunch group.
She will be greatly missed by her two sons, Philip and Brett, her daughter-in-law Hillary, grandchildren Hayden, Perry, Jake, Emma, and Henry Woodyatt; her cousin, Beverly Barren; nieces, nephews and many friends.
