Barbara Sampson

Barbara Sampson, Scott Township, died on Sunday at Regional Hospital, Scranton. She was the widow of Carl E. Sampson, who died in July 2021. The couple had been married over 33 years.

Born in Clarks Summit, she was the daughter of the late John and Winifred Balashaitus Kovolenus. Prior to retirement, she was an x-ray technician at Moses Taylor Hospital, as well as a Medical Office Manager in Scranton.

Surviving are a stepdaughter, Julie Ann Drazba; a step granddaughter, Jennifer; and a sister, Ann Jean Coon of California.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and James Kovolenus; two sisters, Esther Butchar and Helen Howell Maloney.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 am at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit. Entombment will follow at Glenwood Mausoleum, South Abington Township.

Friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home from 10 am until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity.
