Bernard Paul Martin Sr. 82 of Falls passed away on Thursday May 6th in the same home which he was born in. He is survived by his loving wife Christine (Kuffa).
He was the son of the late Joseph J and Mary (Kridlo) Martin. He graduated from Falls Overfield High School in 1956 and took over running the family dairy farm until 1988 when he decided to start his own business, Chasmar Construction. He really enjoyed the construction trade and getting to know all the people he did work for over the years.
In 2011, he started Country Acres Realty with his youngest son DJ and purchased numerous homes for rental or renovated them for resale and in his spare time he helped his three children renovate his dairy farm into the wedding venue, The Barn at Glistening Pond.
Bernie or “Martsy” as he was known to family and friends, enjoyed going out to eat, playing shuffle board, planting flowers, shopping at flea markets and going to the cabin Ponderosa Pines in Tioga County.
Bernie is survived by his children Bernie Jr (Donalynn), Denise Smith (Rob), and DJ Martin (Donna).
His pride and joy were his five grandchildren: Emily Martin, Caleb and Lucas Smith, and Jacqueline and Gabrielle Martin. He loved for them to visit him as often as possible.
Bernie was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Kenia, his brother Joseph and wife Patricia Martin and brothers-in-laws; Jack Franko, Anthony Kenia, and Donald Davidson.
He is survived by his sisters Marion Franko (Fort Pierce, FL) and Anna Mae Davidson (Falls, PA) and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Bernie’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Tuesday May 11 at 10:00 am from the Church of the Holy Redeemer, 2435 State Route 92, Falls PA 18615 to be celebrated by Msgr. John Sempa, pastor. Family and friends are requested to go directly to the church on Tuesday. Interment will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Wyoming.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 7 pm on Monday May 10th at the Barn at Glistening Pond, 421 Pine Hill Rd Falls, PA 18615.
