Bertha Jean Stone, 70, of Scranton passed away Saturday, November 4, 2023 at home. She is preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Ronald Stone in 2020.

Born on November 30, 1952 in Scranton, she is the daughter of the late Glen and Sylvia (Fowler) Rosengrant.

She was a graduate of Montrose High School. She was a compassionate individual who dedicated her life to caring for others as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) at Hampton County Hospital for an impressive span of 27 years until her retirement in 2017.

Bertha found joy in taking care of other people. Her nurturing nature extended beyond her profession, as she unfailingly demonstrated love and support for her own family. As a mother and grandmother, Bertha's proudest accomplishments were the deep connections she cultivated within her own household.

In addition to her dedication to caregiving, Bertha had a number of interests outside of work. Baking and cooking were among her favorite pastimes, particularly the art of baking itself.

Bertha maintained an unwavering faith throughout her life. Her belief in God was fundamental to who she was as an individual. Her spirituality served as a guiding light that provided comfort during both joyous and challenging times.

She is survived by her daughter, Kristie Hogan (Willie); son, Michael Moreau; step-daughter, Ann Marie Johnson (Tim); step-sons, Ronald Stone, Jr. (Donelle), Randy Stone (Nikki); sisters, Crystal Heeman (Robert), Cherie Romain (Gerald); best friend/ cousin, Eleanor Johnson; 20 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her daughter, Michelle Mattison; son, Jeremy Harris; granddaughter, Jordyn Rogers; brothers, Glen Rosengrant, Theodore Rosengrant; sister, Betty Osbourn.

Family and friends are invited to attend Bertha's graveside service which will be held on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 11:00AM at Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock with Pastor Gary Myers presiding.
