Bessie (Betty) W Kester

Bessie (Betty) W Kester, Clarks Summit, PA passed away Wednesday afternoon at Abington Manor. She was preceded in death by Robert, her husband of 66 years.

Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Bessie Williams. Betty worked with her sisters Mary and Violet at Scranton Lace Works for many years before retiring from Allied Services. She was a past Matron of the Green Ridge Order of the Eastern Star and a member of the Clarks Summit United Church.

She enjoyed Sunday dinners, family cookouts, and weekend football games with her family and friends. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and all of their accomplishments. Her great-granddaughter always brought a smile to her face.

Surviving are three sons, Robert Kester of Clarks Summit, Jack Kester and wife Bonnie of Falls, Jeffrey Kester and wife Jennifer of Clarks Summit; four grandchildren, Erica Petrillo (John), Jaimee (AJ Radle), Nicholas, and Troy Kester; and great-granddaughter Brunie.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Jack, and sisters, DeeDee, Cora, Ruth, Violet, and Mary.

Friends and family may call on Friday, July 12th from 5 pm to 7 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 South State St. Clarks Summit. Interment will be private at Abington Hills Cemetery.

We would like to thank those who cared for her at Abington Manor over the last 10 years and the compassionate care Betty received by Traditional Hospice Care over the last several months.
