Bette Lee Kennedy passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2025, surrounded by family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose humor and generosity always lit up the room.

Bette Lee is survived by her five children: Joanne Cassillo and her husband James of Myrtle Beach, SC; Laura Kennedy of Longmont, CO; Matt Kennedy and his wife Carla of Leesburg, VA; Patrick Kennedy and his wife Betty Aileo of Clarks Summit, PA; and Shannon Kennedy and her husband John Soboslai of Santa Barbara, CA. She is also survived by her sister, Agnes Santarsiero.

In addition, she is survived by grandchildren: Chase, Kieran, Sienna, Linnea, and Laiken Cassillo; Raine Kennedy; Conner and Carrigan Kennedy, as well as three great-grandchildren: Aine, GT, and Isabelle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Michael Kennedy; her parents, Mary and Sheldon Saville; her brother, Jack Saville; and grandchildren Shawn and Alec Cassillo.

Bette Lee graduated from Scranton State General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 and went on to serve with compassion and skill as a nurse in a variety of roles over a nearly 40-year career. Her dedication to the well-being of others was evident in both her professional and personal life.

A faithful member of Our Lady of the Snows Church, Bette found peace and community in the Catholic Church.

Bette Lee was an avid reader, a devoted dog owner, and found joy in gardening and spending time with her family. Her quick wit, directness, and her willingness to laugh at herself made family gatherings memorable.

SHE WILL BE MISSED!  WE LOVE YOU MOM.

A viewing has been scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2025 from 6 to 8 pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, PA.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at 9:30 am at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 S. State St., Clarks Summit.  All those attending are asked to go directly to the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the charity of one's choice.
