Carol Ann Straub Toro, 63, of Clarks Summit died on March 23rd while vacationing in Florida. She is survived by her husband of 32 years, Timothy P. Toro.
Born and raised in Dunmore, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Eileen Bruschelli Straub. She was a graduate of Dunmore High School, class of 1977. Prior to retirement, she was employed at Abington Heights School District, and Supermarket Services and Trane Company.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children Tara Cesare Wallace and her husband Eric of Waverly, Mauri Cesare Conlon and her husband Thomas of Hilton Head Island, Kyle Cesare and his wife Olivia of Philadelphia, Breanna Toro of New York City, and Timmy Toro of Philadelphia. She is also survived by her stepdaughters Jessica Toro Bianchi and her husband Christopher of South Abington Twp. and Corrine Toro of Philadelphia. In addition to her children, she is survived by her six granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Richard Straub.
Carol enjoyed her time as treasurer of the Abington Heights Girl's basketball team and as a cheer coach for the Abington Heights Junior Comets. She was her children's biggest fan and could be heard cheering loudly at their basketball, football, golf, dance recitals, track and field and cheerleading events. Carol loved shopping and cooking and was notorious for her famous stromboli's. She loved spending time with her dogs (Newman and Stewart), lounging by Mimi's pool, and relaxing at the beach.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Snows Church, 301 South State Street, Clarks Summit, with services by Msgr. Joseph G. Quinn, pastor. Interment will follow at Hickory Grove Cemetery, Waverly. Friends may visit on Thursday from 5pm – 8pm at the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
