Carolyn Malesky

Carolyn Rice Malesky, 77, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, September 17, 2023 at Allied Services Hospice, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Malesky.

Born on July 12, 1946 in Tunkhannock, she is the daughter of the late Harold and Irene (Harding) Rice.

Carolyn received her education from Tunkhannock High School and graduated with fond memories that she cherished throughout her life. Her time there laid the foundation for her future endeavors and shaped her into the incredible person she became.

One of Carolyn's proudest accomplishments was the countless lives she impacted as a babysitter. Over the years, she nurtured and cared for over 100 children in Wyoming County. Her unwavering patience and genuine love for kids shone through every interaction, leaving an indelible mark on each child she cared for.

Beyond her commitment to children, Carolyn had a deep passion for games that brought joy to both herself and those around her. She adored playing games with those she thought of as her kids and later relished the opportunity to continue that tradition with the children she considered her grandkids and great grandkids. Whether it was board games or imaginative play, Carolyn embraced these moments wholeheartedly, creating cherished memories that will be forever treasured by her family.

When Carolyn wasn't busy caring for children, she found solace in nature's embrace. The great outdoors held an undeniable allure for her, and she would often immerse herself in its beauty. Spending time outside allowed Carolyn to recharge, appreciate the world's wonders, and find peace within herself.

She is survived by her sister, Paula Luvender; godsons, Hiram Thomas Newell and Mark Goodwin; nieces, Rebecca Gaydos and Jamie Milliron; the woman she thought of as her daughter, Lori Bennett and husband David, along with their children and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her brothers, William and David Rice.
