Charles Cannella, 59, of Falls Township, passed away surrounded by his family at Geisinger Hospital, Scranton, after a battle with cancer.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Martin D. and Gene Beauverd Cannella. He was a graduate of Tunkhannock High School and, most recently, worked as a truck driver at Keller Crushing and Screening.
He is survived by his son Ben and daughter Maria and their mother, Amy, all of Falls; brothers Paul and wife Linda, Dalton, David and wife Marland, Lake Winola, and Marty, Meshoppen; sisters Anna Cannella, Wisconsin, Marie Arndt and husband Dwain, Bartonsville, Sarah Wainman and husband Rick, Illinois, Rose Smith and husband Steve, Falls, and Louise Kent, Pittston; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was preceded in death by his sister Ruth Voorhees and her husband Randy.
A funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, with services by Karen Rickaby. A graveside service will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Lake Winola. Friends may pay their respects at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
One of Charles's dreams was to grow his own food on his land so, in lieu of flowers, his children would love to grow an 'Orchard of Life' on the property. Donations of bushes and trees from his friends and family can be brought to his home to help them realize their father's dream.
