Cheryl L. Augustine, 60, of Archbald died at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton. She was the wife of James M. Augustine, Jr.. The couple were married since 1988.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late John and Glenda Antoine Major. She was a 1981 graduate of Lackawanna Trail High School. Prior to her illness, she was employed in many fields through the years. Cheryl worked in the restaurant business, administrative, retail and most recently in the deli department at Gerrity's Supermarket.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons James IV of Illinois, Dominick of Carbondale, and Charles and his wife Jamie of Peckville; brothers John and Kevin Major of Scranton; sisters Karen Utegg of Florida and Lisa Moore Major of Scranton; mother-in-law Ruth Augustine of Clarks Summit; sisters-in-law Kathy Ciraulo and husband John of New Jersey, Trina Kristyniak and husband Frank of Greenfield Twp; Maureen Augustine of Clarks Summit; Sandy Henry and husband Chris of Connecticut; and nieces and nephews: Jack, Olivia, and Nicholas Ciraulo, Sydney Henry, Stephen Utegg, Marissa and Maurice Moore.
She was preceded in death by her father-in-law, James Augustine.
Cheryl was a very unique, sincerely friendly person. She enjoyed life, always laughing and joking. She enjoyed family, friends, Saturday morning trips to local hardware stores, the holidays, attending sporting events (high school, college, and professional), crafts, and music, just to name a few of her many interests. Cheryl mostly loved spending time with her sons. Always the Team Mom, Band Parent, Football Mom, Golf Mom, she never missed any of their events and always worked the stands and served as scorekeeper. She was always the party planner and organizer for any event. Cheryl's natural beauty and personality will be greatly missed.
The Augustine family would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, extended family, friends, neighbors, and cousins that helped them get through this most difficult time.
A private viewing will be held at the convenience of the immediate family. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
