Chester R. Lowrie, Sr.

Chester R. Lowrie, Sr., 90, died on November 23rd at Regional Hospital, Scranton. His wife is the former Shirley Kafchinski. The couple was married 69 years.

Born in Chinchilla, he was the son of the late Clare Lowrie and Josephine Storm Lowrie. He was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and, prior to retirement, worked as a self-employed electrician and owner of Abington Heights Electric.

Chet was a member of the Chinchilla United Methodist Church and the Our Lady of the Snows Church choir. He was also a member of Chinchilla Hose Company as an ambulance driver.

Along with being a member of local organizations, Chet was a gifted maker of stained glass works which he made for family members, friends, and local businesses.

Chet was the second generation electrician of a 3-generation family electrical business. Chet's father, Clair, started the business as Abington Electric Service Man in the 1940's, Chet worked as Abington Heights Electric from 1960 to 1997, and Chet's son, Tom, currently works as Abington Heights Electrical Services LLC.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by sons Chester and wife Julie of Johnson City, NY and Thomas and wife Deborah of Dalton; grandchildren; great grandchildren; sister Penny Kehrli of South Abington; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by sister Jean Greame of Clarks Summit.

Per Chet's wishes, there will be no service and interment at the Miller Cemetery will be done at the discretion of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Chinchilla Hose Company, 113 Shady Lane Road, South Abington Township, PA  18411 in the name of Chet Lowrie.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
