Clarence G. Baltrusaitis

d. October 25, 2014

Clarence G. Baltrusaitis, Sr. Clarence G. Baltrusaitis, Sr., 82, of Tunkhannock, passed away peacefully Saturday evening at Golden Living Center in Tunkhannock. He was born on July 31, 1932 son of the late William and Freida Ungureit Baltrusaitis. Clarence was known throughout the community as a loving husband and father, and a friend to all who knew him. He attended Meyers High School until his sophomore year before moving to, and graduating from, Tunkhannock, where he also lettered in basketball, football, and baseball. Clarence was a member of Tunkhannock’s only undefeated football team in 1950. He lost his left arm in a traumatic electrical accident when he was 5 years old, but managed to leave everybody he knew with the impression that he did not have a handicap. Clarence was best known throughout Northeastern PA as an official and referee of over 40 years. He was licensed with the PIAA and ASA, and volunteered his time umpiring and coaching Little League. He touched many lives, and made many friends, during his career as an official and coach, simply because he “called them as he saw them.” An honorable man, Clarence lead by example, as a respectful and loving husband, a caring and supportive father, and a leader as an official on and off the athletic field. He was a hardworking man, rising above all the adversities found in a time when there wasn’t the ADA to protect those with a handicap. He rose at 5am every day, and worked for 42 years at Bendix in Montrose before his retirement. Clarence also served as an usher, and faithfully attended services at the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Evelyn, his children, Clarence II, David, and Erika, and nine grandchildren, Tyler, Samantha, David Jr, Jakob, Jaden, Caleb, Sarah, Kiley, and Cody. Clarence also leaves behind his sister, Betty Wall, and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday Oct 29th at 9:30 am from the Church of the Nativity BVM in Tunkhannock. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment will be in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock from 6 – 8 pm on Tuesday Oct 18th. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.sheldonkukuchkafuneralhome.com.
