Constance Morgan Scanlon, a longtime resident of Tunkhannock, passed away at Regional Hospital of Scranton with her daughter by her side on Sunday March 27, 2022, at the age of 84 from pancreatic cancer.
Born in Kingston, PA on August 10, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Philip John Morgan and Elizabeth Flanders Morgan.
Constance graduated from Wyoming Seminary, Class of 1955. She attended Bradford Junior College before transferring to and graduating from Penn State University, Class of 1959, with a Bachelor of Arts in History.
She was a woman of many interests that included ancient history, Wilkes-Barre and Lake Carey history, birding, reading, and the protection of all animals. She especially loved cats and supported animal welfare charities. But most of all, she loved and supported her family and friends. She was a woman of great caring and was generous with her time and thoughtfulness.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather M. Scanlon and wife Lorraine C. Basara of Flourtown, PA; sister Elizabeth (Betsey) Morgan Salisbury of Basking Ridge, NJ; nieces and nephews, Karen Salisbury Vaias (Robert), Megan Salisbury Elia (James), Brock Salisbury, Maureen Morgan (Ali), Myvanwy Morgan-Baker (Andrew); great niece and nephews, Emily Vaias, Sammy Jabbari, and Zach Baker.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Philip Morgan, Jr.
The family wants to thank Karen Robinson and the caregivers from Home Instead services (Kelly, Patty B., Patty M., Lynne, and Connie) for their help to Heather in keeping Constance well cared for in her home these last several years.
Family and friends are invited to attend Constance’s funeral service which will be held on April 7, 2022, at 11:00 AM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657with Rev. Tenny Rupnick presiding. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday April 6, 2022, from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at, and Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the funeral home.
