Connie Wilbur

Connie Wilbur, 89, of Falls, passed away Friday December 15, 2023 at home, surrounded by her loving family after a long courageous battle with cancer.

She was born in Pittson Hospital on February 12, 1934 and was a lifelong resident of Falls. She is the daughter of the late Stephen and Stella (Azarowicz) Golenski. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Richard "Butch" Wilbur. Prior to his passing in 2018 they celebrated 65 years of marriage.

Connie graduated from Falls Overfield in 1952 as Salutatorian of her class. Shortly after graduation she married and traveled with her husband Butch to multiple duty stations during his time in the Air Force with her favorite being Fairbanks, Alaska. After settling back in Falls, she worked at the Lori Dress Company for 18 years while raising her children.

Connie enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, walking in the woods to collect mushrooms, berries and flowers, and cooking. She cared about her family more than anything and enjoyed spending time with them, especially hosting and cooking for many large family celebrations. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her children Richard "Rick" Wilbur of Falls; David and Laurie Wilbur of Tunkhannock, and daughter-in-law Ellen Wilbur of Falls. Sister Joan Cease of Shavertown. Grandchildren Erica (Jason) Wilbur-Cook, Jeffrey (Emma) Wilbur, Zach (Cheyenne) Wilbur and Alyson (Brian) Beauchemin. Great-grandchildren Colton, Everly, and Crew and two great-granddaughters on the way.

In addition to her parents and husband she is preceded in death by sisters Cecilia Skislak, Irene Macijowsky, Mary Panuski, Helen Zarychta, and brother Stephen "Sonny" Golenski.

Family and friends are invited to attend Connie's Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:00AM from Nativity of Our Lord Parish at Holy Rosary Church, 127 Stephenson Street, Duryea, PA 18642 to be celebrated by Rev. Michael M. Bryant, pastor. Interment will follow at Mountain View Burial Park located on Route 92 in Harding. A luncheon and time of fellowship with be held at the Mill City Dairy Bar on Route 307 in Mill City.

A visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of mass at the church on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, please make a memorial contribution in Connie's name to the Lake Winola Fire Company, P.O. Box 73, Lake Winola, PA 18625 or a charity of your choice.
