Daniel James Herman, 54, passed away on February 12, 2026 after a prolonged illness.  Born in Scranton, PA on March 27, 1971, the beloved son of Leonard G. Herman and Mary I. Herman. He is survived by his father and 3 siblings, Mary H. Herman of Eynon PA, Joseph A. Herman of Cogan Station PA, Leonard M. Herman of Oak Hill, VA.  He is also survived by the "OUTLAWS" Sante Bellucci of Eynon PA, Pamela (Steppe) Herman of Cogan Station PA, Maureen (Danker) Herman of Oak Hill, VA.  Uncle D was blessed with 11 nieces and nephews Joey, Jason, Abigail, Isabelle, Brianna, Madeline, Kaitlyn, Olivia, Julia, Liam, and Finn.  They were the joy of his life.  Where there was a kid there was Uncle D.

He was raised in South Abington Township and graduated from Abington Heights High School in 1989.  He was a member of the track and field team.  Dan graduated with the highest honors from Johnson Technical Institute with an Associates Degree in Welding and Metal Fabrication.  He was a member of the Boilermakers Local #13 and worked the refineries of Philadelphia PA, numerous power plants like Brunner Island, Montour Power, and Hummel Station.  He was recently employed with Greiner Industries.  He had his government clearances and previously worked for NASA and some Defense Dept sites as well.  Uncle D had a PhD in bonfires, fireworks, and dribble art.

Danny loved the outdoors, sports like fishing and skiing, and time at the beach with the family building sandcastles.  Growing up he was the "foreman" on the construction sites of several childhood forts on what the family named "Herman Mountain" in Chinchilla, PA.  He loved making crafts with his nieces, anything from ceramics, putting together puzzles, coloring with headlamps, making popcorn strings for the tree, to even teaching them how to make cigarettes.  He absolutely despised PlayDoh.  He enjoyed building rock walls, and anything made from wood.  Some of his bird houses are on display in numerous family gardens.

Danny loved a great party and lit up the room with excitement, a smile, and an energy that cannot be duplicated.  If you walked in and saw Danny was there you had better buckle up, it was on.  He loved watching softball and travelled all over the states with his nieces cheering them on.  Turn a double play, smash a homer, or throw someone out stealing and Uncle D could be heard across the complex.  He took his oldest nephews hiking and impressed them with his larger-than-life abilities as they explored the woods on Herman Mountain.  He loved hearing about the shenanigans and triumphs of his youngest nephews in their sports and skiing trips as well. Spending the holidays with his family was something he looked forward to for each holiday season from decorating eggs for Easter egg hunts in the yard, to celebrating Thanksgiving, and being part of the magic of Christmas by hunting for the biggest and best Christmas Tree each year that often barely fit through the door.

Danny loved animals, especially his dogs Chipper, Maisie, Chopper, Rocky, Bruiser, Emmy, Lily, and Honey Boo Boo.  He had a travelling guinea pig Richard that he took everywhere he went.

Danny had a big bright smile, fun loving sense of humor, and an extremely kind and generous heart.  If you got to know Danny, you got to know someone that was truly special and unique.  Dan will be missed as a faithful and loving son, reliable brother, and fun loving "Uncle D".
