Daniel Fredrick Janiszewski, 70, of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania, passed away suddenly on September 7, 2023, at home.
Born on August 25, 1953, in Scranton, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Daniel and Mary (McLaughlin) Janiszewski.
Danny was a light who could brighten every room he entered, and he brought a smile and laugh to every person he was near. He was incredibly kind, selfless, smart, positive, funny, entertaining, and warm-hearted.
Danny was employed for the last 50 years at Sandvik (now Lesjofors). He had a passion for sports including golf, the NY Giants, the Penn State Nittany Lions — and most especially, the Philadelphia Phillies. Danny was an avid Phillies fan since 1964, and could recite stats and Phillies history better than anyone. His encyclopedic knowledge also extended to movies, Marvel, and the impressive ability to name the top Billboard song for the year you were born.
He was loved beyond measure by many as a brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and bonus dad, and will be forever missed.
Danny is survived by: three brothers David (Linda), Kenneth, Thomas (Rose); and a sister Denise (Tim). He is also survived by: nephews Kenny, Steven, and Eric; nieces Sarah, Amber, Sharon, and Kelly; step-nephews Tony, Doug, Kenny; step-niece Natalie; 23 grandnieces and grandnephews; an aunt Barbara; cousins Elaine, Ruth, Norbert, Susan, Alana, and Nicole; numerous members of the Bugno family, the Janeski family, the Angerson family, the McLaughlin family, and the Widdick family; and many friends, including close family friends Lauren, Judy, Michelle, and Alyssa.
Services will be held in honor of Danny on Friday, September 15, at 1:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, located at 73 W. Tioga Street in Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania with Deacon Ray Pieretti of Nativity BVM Catholic Church of Tunkhannock officiating. Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00AM - 1:00PM.
