David Wilford Evans, 84, of Falls, Pennsylvania, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023.
David was the son of the late Wilford and Martha Evans of Chinchilla. David was the brother of the late Gordon Evans who is survived by his wife, Moearii Evans. He is also survived by brother, Phillip Evans and wife Catherine Evans; two sons, David G. Evans and wife Sharon Evans, Mark Evans and wife Joanne Evans; a daughter, Tanya Greenfeld and husband Charles Greenfeld; grandchildren Jessica, Rayne, Brooke, Keith and Wife Alex Evans, Erik, Alexandra, Addison, and Kye; and many loving great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
David was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and served in the United States Navy from 1957- 1960. He retired from Proctor and Gamble Paper Products in Mehoopany, Pennsylvania, and later worked as a safety consultant for Ronco Corporation. He maintained close ties with the people he met along life's journey and always had funny back-in-the-day stories to tell about friends and colleagues. He found humor in just about everything, and he and his brothers and friends delighted in teasing each other.
David and his late wife, Linda, both graduates of Abington Heights, attended class reunions for decades, fostering close friendships with former classmates and often vacationing together with a group that became known as "the Hilton Head Gang." Dave and Linda enjoyed golfing, bike riding, and attending Super Bowl parties during their stays on Hilton Head Island. David also enjoyed getting together with his brothers and friends and cooking fancy dinners for their wives on special occasions, and he was a welcome regular at the Sunrise Diner in Clarks Summit.
David was a man of many talents and interests, a man who never slowed down. He would come home from a shift at Proctor and Gamble, take a three-mile jog, fix or build something around the house, and make dinner for the family without pause. He was an avid gardener, a cook, an athlete, a traveler, a builder, a fixer, and—most of all—a loving and caring son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is irreplaceable, and he will be deeply mourned.
A memorial service, followed by lunch, will be held at the Lake Winola United Methodist Church on March 10, 2024 at 12:15 pm. Those who wish to offer condolences can post them to LawrenceEYoungFuneralHome.com.
