David W. Schoenwetter

d. March 26, 2022

David W. Schoenwetter, 75, died on Saturday March 26, 2022 at Aventura at Creekside Nursing Home, Carbondale, where he was a resident since January 2020. He was born in Kingston on March 1, 1947 to the late Jack and Delores (Rosnick) Schoenwetter. He was raised in Luzerne, graduated from Luzerne High School in 1965, and from LCC in 1969. Dave and his wife Ronnie moved to Endwell New York in 1969, where he worked at IBM until his retirement in 2004. He was also an active member of the O. L. Davis - Endwell Fire Department. With his sardonic sense of humor, Dave chose his funeral song in 1980 when Queen released “Another One Bites the Dust.” He had a unique sense of humor, many quotes (“If you were smart…” being a favorite), and could fix or create anything – such as when he created a refrigerator alarm in the early 1990’s from scrounged parts, which would call his pager anytime the door was left open for longer than he programmed it, so he could then call Ronnie and ask…why the fridge was still open! He loved to be outdoors, take long walks (always with an apple in his pocket!), dance, rollerblade, and listen to music from the 60s. He also spent many hours at McDonalds (his favorite restaurant) to the delight of his grandchildren! He loved to be with people, and as soon as he and Ronnie moved anywhere, Dave knew all the neighbors in the area. He would do anything to help anyone. His family, children, and grandchildren were the light of his life, and he spent hours walking with them and taking his grandchildren to see the farm animals and feed the horses! He is survived by his wife, Ronnie, daughter, Paula (Jeff) Eckert; son, Dr. David J. (Martine) Schoenwetter; and grandchildren Rachel, Anthony, Hannah, Maddy, Sophia, Emma and Mila, as well as cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Arlene; brother, Jack; and nephew, Johnathon. Family and friends are invited to attend Dave’s Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on April 25, 2022 at 11:00 AM from the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 99 E. Tioga Street Tunkhannock, PA 18657, to be celebrated by Rev. Patrick Albert. At Dave’s request, there will be no viewing and no flowers. At Dave's request, he will be interred on the family farm in Harding, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial offerings can be made in Dave's memory to the Endwell Fire Dept. Please make the check out to the OL Davis Fire Company, mailed to 3508 Country Club Road, Endwell, NY 13760. David W Schoenwetter memorial can be included on the memo line.
