Dean Henry Stang, 88, passed away on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at his home on the family farm in Lemon Township, PA. This is the same farm on which he was born on October 4, 1937, as the son of the late William Milton and Selma Cecelia (Gansereit) Stang. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Doris "Jean" (Kipp) Stang.
Dean graduated from Tunkhannock High School with the class of 1955. He devoted his entire life to his family and farming. A lifelong dairy farmer, Dean operated his family's Century farm, alongside his brother Peter and family. He was a hard-working steward of the land, a strong supporter of the agricultural community, a member of the Lemon United Methodist Church, and he served on the board of Sire Power for many years.
Dean will be remembered for his passion for John Deere tractors, his kindness and generosity. He was always willing to help anyone who needed it in any way he could. The only thing he loved more than the land and his country was his family. Dean valued the simple things in life, spending time with his family and friends, and especially his treasured granddaughter, who was his pride and joy.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William Milton Stang, Jr. and sister-in-law Doris Sherwood Stang; his brother, Louis Stang and sister-in-law Renate Stang; sister, Valeda Boner; and his niece and her husband, Mary Lou and Mark Clark.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his brother, Peter Stang; son Ronald Stang and his wife Michele O'Dowd; son Todd Stang and his wife Theresa Stang; granddaughter Grace Stang; and a niece and numerous nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend Dean's funeral service which will be held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at 11:00 AM from the Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657, with Pastor Brian Williams officiating.
A viewing will be held from 9:30 AM until the time of service on Monday. In accordance with Dean's wishes, a private graveside service will follow. Interment will be at the Stang family farm cemetery.
The family would like to thank all of Dean's caregivers that helped keep him at home, as well as the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, Dean's family kindly asks you to support your local farms, FFA, 4-H, or farm bureau; the Lemon United Methodist Church, 1123 PA-29 Tunkhannock, PA 18657; or charity of your choice to keep "paying it forward."
