Deborah Lee Weisenfluh, 70, of Scranton, passed away on Saturday July 2 at Moses Taylor Hospital after a courageous battle with ovarian cancer.

Deborah was born on June 24, 1952 in Scranton. She was the daughter of the late Edward Weisenfluh and Betty Jane Williams Weisenfluh.  She graduated from West Scranton High School and went on to study English at Keystone College. She  received her bachelor's degree at the University of Scranton. Prior to her retirement she worked as a social worker for the Northeast  PA  Center for Independent Living.

She was a member of the Hickory Street Presbyterian Church where she served as Deacon, Elder, Sunday School Teacher, Choir member, and Bible Study member. She was a devout Christian who loved her church family.

She traveled extensively throughout Europe, the United Kingdom, Israel and Jordan with her sister Elizabeth. Deborah touched many lives. Those who knew her loved her. She was a kind, caring person  who was like a mother to many throughout her life.

Deborah is survived by her daughter Deborah Lee Musgrave and her husband David, Clarks Summit; a son Alan Edward Carroll and his wife Erin, Mayfield; two sisters Elizabeth Honan, Scranton, and Mary Lou Mecca and her husband Joseph, Clarks Summit; two nephews Josh and Elliot Zackoski, a niece Jane Mecca and nine grandchildren.

Her greatest accomplishments in life were her grandchildren Joey, Matthew, Keeley, Nicky, Rylee, and Liam Carroll, Evan, Drew and Ella Musgrave. She loved attending all of her grandchildren's activities, including school sporting events.

She loved music, movies and plays. She was also an avid reader.

She is preceded in death by a brother Eddie Weisenfluh and a sister Pamela Zackoski.

The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. from Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit. Interment will be at Clarks Green Cemetery. Family and friends may call Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
