Donald Elwood Antoine, Sr.

Donald Elwood Antoine Sr., 93, of Dalton died Saturday night at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.  He was the widower of Shirley Watson Antoine.

Born in North Abington Twp., he was the son of the late Herbert and Eva Miller Antoine.  He was a proud Army veteran who served in Korea. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner operator of Antoine Timbering. Don was a member of the Dalton United Methodist Church. He was an avid sportsman and supporter of all local school districts and community athletics, as well as a Boston Red Sox fan.

Surviving are two daughters, Rebecca Aten, Harford, PA, and Debra Thomas, North Carolina; two sons, Robert Antoine and his wife Lisa, Dalton, PA, and Ray Harmon, Ogdensburg, NY; Daughter in Law Susan Antoine; seventeen grandchildren; thirty-six great grandchildren; two brothers, David Antoine, Fleetville, and Edward Antoine, Dalton; a sister, Frances Edwards, New York; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by daughter Deborah Garrison; son Donald Antoine Jr.; brothers Herbert and Richard Antoine; and sisters Imojene Cucura, Lillian Perry, Alberta Antoine, Wanita Stanton, Glenda Major; and son-in-law Jerry Aten;

The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Montgomery, Hospice of the Scared Heart, Allied Transitional, and Clarks Summit Senior Living Center.

A memorial service with military honors will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. at the Dalton United Methodist Church, 125 S. Turnpike Rd., Dalton Pa, with services by Rev. Beth Kostelnik.  Friends may pay their respects at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Sacred Heart or the donor's local fire company.
