Donald Espenschied

Donald L. Espenschied of Shavertown, Pennsylvania peacefully passed away June 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 60 years, the former Patricia Kovalchick, son, Donald, daughter Amy, son-in-law Jeff and his two amazing granddaughters, Dr. Payton Lepore and Bella Lepore.

Don was born January 24, 1944, at Union Hospital, New Philadelphia, Ohio to Maxine and Herbert Espenschied. He was a 1962 graduate of Dover High School, Dover, Ohio. After graduating he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. It was in the early stages of the Vietnam conflict that he was wounded in a major assault in the Quang Ngal Province, Vietnam and was awarded a Purple Heart for his injuries.

He retired in 2000 after 32 years of working at Procter & Gamble. Throughout his retirement years he and his wife enjoyed traveling around the United States and discovered what life was like in the European countries, China, Russia and Egypt. There were times their family would join them on these wonderful adventures. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family making special memories together.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and his dear aunts, Ruth, Gail, Peggy and his uncles, Herm, Paul, and Atlee, who lovingly looked after him after his young mother's death.

Funeral services will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
