Doris Willets

April 21, 1921 — July 24, 2023

Doris Alice Willets, 102, of Orange City, Florida passed away Monday, July 24, 2023, under the care of Charming Lakes Rehabilitation and Care Center in Lakeland, FL.

She was born on April 21, 1921, in Falls, Pennsylvania. She was the third of 11 children born to Archie and Iona Eyet.

She was married to the love of her life Fred, for 50 plus years before he passed from Lymphoma, in 1996. She was the mother of three children, grandmother of seven and great grandmother of nine. She spent a good part of her life in Binghamton, New York; Stanhope, New Jersey; and Ledgewood, New Jersey before making her way to Deltona, Florida in 1979. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Deltona, and then Community Methodist Church in Debary. She spent her time volunteering for her church on several committees and being an active part of the community outreach programs in both churches as well as the United Methodist Women, organizing the rummage sales, supporting the youth ministries, vacation bible school, community dinners, and the food pantry.

She was a beloved mother, doting grandmother and an adored great grandmother. She was a strong and courageous woman that held tight to her faith and relationship with God. She had a full and productive life while overcoming many obstacles, but always came out of it with a smile on her face and a song in her heart. We were so blessed to have her in our lives for so many years, and she will be missed by all who knew her, as we know she touched many lives in such a positive way.

Doris is survived by her son Donald Willets and daughter Patricia Willets; six grandchildren, Scott Mickens, Andy DiBernard, Heather Cahill, Josh Willets, Jeff DiBernard and Kristy DiBernard; and nine great-grandchildren; Zachary, Branden, Madison, Courtney, Spencer, Victoria, Alyssa, Avery, and Alexandria.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by her husband, Fred, her daughter Diane Craparotta and her granddaughter Danielle Willets.
