Elizabeth "Betty" Carpenter

Elizabeth "Betty" Carpenter, Factoryville, passed unexpectedly at her home on Sunday, 7/31.

Born in Scranton to the late Lester "Pete" Hill and Margaret Clarkson Hill Crispell, she graduated from Falls-Overfield School in 1958, then served 19 ½ years working for Wyoming County EMA and courthouse. Betty was a very outspoken person and an active member of the community. She served as choir director for the Lake Winola United Methodist Church for over 30 Years. A Life Member of the Lake Winola Fire Company, she served five years as Ambulance Captain, five years as financial secretary, nine years as Chaplain, and multiple years as Ambulance Lieutenant. Betty also loved every and any moment she could spend with her grandchildren.

Betty is survived by her children, Steven L Carpenter, Scranton, Lynn A Minicozzi (Al Jubinski), Lake Winola, and Edward J Carpenter and his wife Katie, Dalton; her precious grandchildren, the lights of her life - Cody J. Minicozzi and fiancé Kendra, Dalton, Samantha E. Seidel, Baltimore, Grace A. Carpenter, Dalton, Alex Jubinski, Dalton, and Michaellien Ginter, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; and her "adopted" children and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by son-in-law Rocco Minicozzi and granddaughter Toni Marie Minicozzi.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday at 4 p.m. at the Lake Winola United Methodist Church, 326 Maple Drive, Dalton. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Schultzville. Viewing will be at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State St., Clarks Summit.
