Elizabeth Dorothy Gercken, 81, of Clarks Green passed away, Friday, June 26, 2026, at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert H. Gercken, Sr. in 2014.
Born on January 4, 1945, in Ridgewood, NY, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Dorothy (Oestriech) Polito.
Elizabeth was a proud graduate of the Grover Cleveland High School, class of 1962.
Through the years, she built a life centered around care, warmth, and dedication to others. For many years, she ran a licensed day care from her home, shaping the lives of countless children and offering families comfort and peace of mind.
She found great joy in spending time with her family, always putting them at the center of her world. Her creativity shone through in her crafting, and her love of literature was reflected in her passion for reading. In addition, Elizabeth found peace and happiness in nature, she loved sitting beside her pond and gardening.
She is survived by her sons, Robert H. Gercken Jr. and wife Stephanie, Christopher M. Gercken and wife Michelle; daughter, Lisa Geyer and her partner Kevin Phillips; sister, Dorothy Coleman and husband Bruce, Joyce Cibinskas and husband Billy; grandchildren, Caleb and his wife Valerie, Amelia, Aiden, Connor, and Natalie Gercken, Delia and her partner Zack Cregar, Holly, and Duncan Geyer; she was soon to be a great grandma.
Family and friends are invited to attend Elizabeth's Celebration of Life which will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, at 12:00 PM from the Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit, PA 18411.
A visitation will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Elizabeth's memory can be made to Abington Community Library.
