Esther Cosner Malys, 68, of Newton Township died at home on Sunday. She is survived by Henry "Hank" Malys, her husband of over fifty years.
Born in Newton Township, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Shirley Romaine Parkton Cosner. She was a 1972 graduate of Abington Heights High School.
She met her loving and kind husband Hank at MetLife, fell in love with his mesmerizing eyes, and got married. They were blessed with three children, Lizzy (Dean), Jimmy (Jenn), and Kelly (Shaun) and four grandkids Paige, Gabby, Dakota, and Johnny. She is also survived by her siblings, Sharon (Dave), Norma, Becky (Wally), Sue (Ken), Jen (Rich), and Dennis (Rhonda); goddaughters Sarah Persinger and Mika Bates; Diane (Paul) and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Esther was on the Class of 72 reunion committee, served as a Girl Scout leader and Boy Scout leader, and worked at Camp Archbald. She also served as Judge of Elections in Newton Township.
She was a Worthy Advisor and Mother Advisor for Rainbow Girls. She was a member of Juanita Chapter #8 OES, where she served as Worthy Matron for two years, and would have been a 50-year member. She loved working the family genealogy.
Esther was a kind soul who loved her husband, kids, grandkids, family and friends and will be missed deeply.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Hank and Sophea Malys; grandparents Arthur, Esther, and Virgie Cosner and Edward, Josephine, and Dorothy Parkton; and godparents Bill Parkton and Lonnee Forbes.
An Eastern Star service will be held on Friday at 7 p.m. at Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 S. State Street, Clarks Summit.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the funeral home from 5 p.m. until the time of the service.
