Evelyn Scranta

Evelyn A. Scranta of Tunkhannock died Thursday in the Celtic Hospice Unit of Geisinger South. She was born in Tunkhannock on October 10, 1931 daughter of the late Henry and Agnes Sands Giberson. After high school she was employed for a short time at the Endicott Johnson Shoe Company in Tunkhannock. Evelyn had been employed by Rowker Dress Co., Ronox Dress Co. and Nancy’s Fashions for over 27 years. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and working on the family farm that she and her late husband Frances M Scranta bought in 1949. Preceding her in death was a son Francis Jr., Brothers Henry, Donald, Paul and William Giberson and a sister Jean Lockett. Surviving are sons Bernard and Stephen Scranta of Tunkhannock, daughters Josephine Sands, Carol Ann Scranta both of Tunkhannock, Agnes Harris, Dallas, Sister Mae Session, Tunkhannock 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10 am from the Sheldon- Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc., 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with Pastor Kurt Bricker of the Eaton Baptist Church.
