Francis James McDonald, 79, of South Abington Township died on Thursday at home. His wife and best friend is the former Kathryn Carmick. The couple have been married since 1985.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Francis and Catherine Gallagher McDonald and was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a production worker at Thompson Consumer Electronics. Most recently he was employed by Moranco Transportation.
Frank was very proud of his service in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He completed service as a Specialist Fourth Class in the Armored Calvary.
In addition to his wife Kathy, he is survived by sons Francis McDonald of Old Forge, James Boland of North Carolina, Matthew Boland of Connecticut and Timothy Boland of North Carolina; and grandchildren Billy, Noah, Sydney, Emily, Liam and Piper.
He was preceded in death by daughter Francine McDonald and his sister Ellen Ross.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., 418 South State Street, Clarks Summit.
