Frank E. Lawrence III, 80, of Tunkhannock passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center.
Frank was born in Queens, New York on January 20th, 1946, to Vincenzina (Jane) Tetesco and Frank Lawrence II. As a child, Frank moved many times to many different schools and places within New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This included a period of time at the Headley Farm in Centermoreland, where he shared memories growing up with his country cousins.
Frank eventually wound up in Red Bank, New Jersey, where he graduated from the Red Bank High School in 1963. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp in the same year. After his discharge, Frank continued with his education. He became employed with the Air Cruiser Company in New Jersey where he helped design lifesaving inflatable equipment for airplanes, such as the slides used to evacuate passengers from the plane that landed on the Hudson River.
Frank lived near the Jersey Shore and took advantage of it. He enjoyed the beach and the waves, and running the "boards" every morning and would occasionally do the 5k and 10k runs for charity.
Frank then came back to Centermoreland where he became an over-the-road trucker. He worked for the Yannuzzi family in Hazleton. He enjoyed the freedom of the road, seeing the country and making new friends. He met his wife, Jan Weaver, at the little store in Centermoreland. He married in 1993, giving up "the road", and became the owner of that little store. Frank then spent his time tinkering in his wood shop and remodeling his home. Most importantly, he loved being a Dad and offering his "ear" and his advice for the family that grew around him.
He is survived by his wife, Jan; his daughter, Brandy and her husband Levi; his son Alfred Bevan and his wife Allie, and son Frankie Lawrence IV and his wife Eileen (Nelly). He will be dearly missed by his sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews, children, and all that he showed kindness to over the years.
His family will be holding a private celebration of his life at a later date.
If anyone would like to make a small donation in his name, his favorite organization was the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306.
Arrangements and care entrusted to Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.
