Frederic R. Leber, Jr.'s love of life did not come to an end with his death. Fred passed away on April 28, 2022 at the young age of 61 in Scranton, surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to the fullest.
Born and raised in Scranton by the late Frederic Sr. and Nancy Lloyd Leber, he was a graduate of West Scranton High School and went on to become a 40-year IBEW electrician and NECA contractor. He was the president of Leber Electric Inc., a 2nd generation family business. For 20 years he served on the local Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee, as the Secretary of the Scranton Division of NECA, and on the executive board for the Penn-Del-Jersey Chapter of NECA.
He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, Karen Leber, and moved to Lake Winola. They were happily married for almost 39 years and proudly raised three children. He thoroughly enjoyed lake life, and made lifetime friends at the Lake Winola Cottagers Association, where he served as the past president. He coached and cheered his children's athletic endeavors from little league through the collegiate level. From the fields of Lake Winola to the Coast Guard Academy, he never missed a game.
Fred spent every Sunday morning shooting clay birds at the Factoryville Sportsmen's Club, where he also volunteered as a Youth Clay Busters League coach and spent a vast amount of time enhancing the club's facilities.
He eagerly awaited snowy winters to snowmobile any chance he got, from local trails to the tip of Maine with his family and buddies. He enjoyed many of life's simple pleasures which include building and racing stock cars, renovation projects, and "Poppy Hour."
"Poppy" never passed up an opportunity to spend time with his grandkids, whether it be boating around Lake Winola or exploring the garage.
He left behind his three children: Timothy Leber (Tara), Amy Leber, Christine Sheehan (William); seven grandchildren: Paxton, Hadley, Charlotte, and Milo Leber, Rosie and Patrick Sheehan and expected Baby Sheehan #3; his siblings: Ralph Leber (Ann Marie), Nancy Graber (Robert); father and mother-in-law William and Mary Ellen Jackson; brother-in-law Michael Jackson (Cindy); and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother-in-law, William Jackson III.
