Fred Rose, beloved son of the late Eglantine and Henry Rose, passed away peacefully on Sept. 21,2024. He was 83 years old.
Fred is survived by his high school sweetheart, best friend and wife, Peggy Garofalo Rose. They would have celebrated their 66th anniversary on November 15, 2024.
Fred was a kind and loving father and the tragic loss of his oldest daughter, Debbie, left him bereft.
His life was dedicated to his children, six grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. Surviving children are Tony and Kristen Rose, Dalton; Beverly and Jerry Lesnefsky, Eynon; and Joni and John Dixon, Hurst, Texas. Grandchildren: Jessica Hogan, Clarks Summit; Shawna Hogan, Springville; Casey Rose, Dallas, Texas; Christopher Lesnefsky and wife Michele, Jefferson Township; Jordan Rose, Atlanta, Ga; and David Lesnefsky and wife Rebecca, Durham, NC.
He genuinely enjoyed the time spent with his two precious great-grandchildren, Abigail and Andrew Lesnefsky, Jefferson Twp.
There was rarely a recital, football, basketball, baseball, or soccer game that did not find Grandpa Fred in the audience.
Also surviving are his brother Eugene, and his wife Dorothy, and many nieces and nephews.
Fred had an enormous appetite for life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and kayaking. He was a lifelong member of the NRA, The Factoryville Sportsmen's Club, and the Lackawanna County Builders Association. He relished his time coaching his team, the FSC Clay Busters, to compete while teaching responsible gun ownership. He volunteered for the Race for the Cure for many years, distributing posters and walking in memory of Debbie. He was an ardent supporter of the work done by the Catherine McAuley Center.
His career was spent in the wholesale distribution of electrical supplies industry, working his way up from truck driver to outside salesperson. Many of his business associates became lifelong friends particularly Jack Lee and his family. Fred retired from Lee Electric Supply Company in 2020
