It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gail Ruth Hepplewhite, of Clarks Summit, who peacefully departed on August 11th at the age of 79, at Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Dunmore.
Born September 25, 1945, in Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine Kostige. She is survived by her two daughters Cathy LaRue and husband Damien LaRue, and Bonnie Comstock and husband Dr. Arthur Comstock; two grandsons Brady and Bryce Comstock; nieces, nephews, cousins, and her beloved grand dogs Chloe and Duchess.
Gail was a graduate of West Scranton High School and spent her career working at Abington Heights School District. Her first role there was a library aide and then she became a dedicated substitute coordinator in the administration building. While working in the high school, she was known as "Mrs. H." by many students. Over her course of time at Abington Heights, she made strong friendships with many staff members and enjoyed her professional role. Gail's friendships encompassed all aspects of life, and each was special to her. From phone chats, joint family outings, entertaining, and helping others, she was up for all of it. Most importantly, she was a devoted mom, grandmother, and friend that you could count on if you needed something.
Gail's hobbies included church choir, decorating, crocheting, gardening, cooking, baking, and reading. She dedicated her time volunteering for her church and helping others. Most of all, Gail loved to joke, laugh, and spend time socializing with friends and family. She loved to spoil her grandsons Brady and Bryce and was known as "Gi Gi".
The LaRue and Comstock families would like to express deep gratitude to Hospice of the Sacred Heart and the staff at GCMC Hospital for their exceptional care during her illness.
A memorial service to celebrate Gail's life will be held on Saturday at 12:00 pm at Countryside Community Church, 14011 Orchard Drive, Clarks Summit, with services by Rev. TJ McCabe. Friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gail's name to Hospice of the Sacred Heart.
