It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Gail Patricia (Stemrich) Kavalow on October 27, 2024, at the age of 76. She lost her battle with cancer peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, at Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia.
Gail was born on October 5, 1948, in California, to Robert P. Stemrich and Betsy A. (Kasper) Stemrich. She spent her childhood in Ashley, PA and later in Chinchilla, PA, where she graduated from Abington Heights High School in 1966. Gail earned an associate's degree in business and went on to have a rewarding 30+-year career in banking, specializing in wire transfers, with several local banks.
In her personal life, Gail was committed to her community and family. She volunteered for her daughter's Girl Scout troop and participated actively in various PTA activities. Gail was a crafter and hobbyist seamstress, creating countless handmade Halloween costumes and thoughtful gifts. Known for her culinary talents, she delighted family and friends with her delicious meals. Gail cherished family trips to the Jersey Shore and reunions with extended relatives. In her later years, she became known for her sharp shopping skills, sense of style, and gift for conversation. With her humor and warmth, Gail made everyone around her feel valued and appreciated.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Betsy; her sister, Cheryl Stemrich; and her brother, John Stemrich.
She is survived by her beloved daughter, Susan Kavalow-Huie, her son-in-law, David Kavalow-Huie, and her two grandchildren, Bennett and Madeline, all of Conshohocken, PA. She is also survived by her brother, Rob Stemrich, and his wife, Michelle, of Factoryville, PA; her nephew, Tim Stemrich and his family of Dalton, PA; and her niece, Shawna Kopa and her family of Blakely, PA. Also surviving Gail is her sister, Donna Stemrich Oliver and her family of Waymart, Pa. Gail's memory will be forever cherished by all who knew and loved her.
