Garfield "Garf" Green, 90, of Clarks Summit, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on Sunday at Regional Hospital, Scranton.

He was preceded in death in 1996 by his first love and wife Julie Fedor Green and in 2021 by his second wife, Sonja Gull Green.  He was also preceded in death in 1956, by his infant daughter Mary Magdalen Green.

Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Morgan and Mary Green.  He was a 1954 graduate of West Scranton High School and attended classes at Dickinson School of Law in Carlisle, PA.

Garf proudly served as a United States Marine and retired from the Scranton Police Department as a Sergeant in charge of the Traffic Division, as well as serving as a Deputy Sheriff for Lackawanna County and also worked for The Attorney Generals Office.  He was proud to follow the family tradition of serving the people of the City of Scranton, Lackawanna County and The state of Pennsylvania.

Garf was an avid sportsman, who loved fishing, hunting, especially in Canada, Lake Ontario, Lake Kawanne, Sandy Creek, N.Y. and Florida, where he spent many years with family and friends, sharing and teaching his outdoor skills.  Garf also spent lots of time with his local friends, chatting, texting, telling stories and joking around and will be missed by all.

Surviving are his sons Barry Green (Ann), Scranton,  Robert Green (Julie) Leesport, and William (Allison), Clarks Summit.  Eight grandchildren Morgan and Michael Green, Julie Grenevicki (Joe), Karen Garber (Dave), Melissa and Alicia Green, William Green, Stephen Green (Kim), two step grandchildren Anthony Tomeo and Brianna Moscarelli (Andy), seven great-grandchildren and his faithful canine companion, Tiney.

The funeral will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm at Mill City Assembly of God, 167 Mercy Lane Dalton, PA.  Friends may pay their respects at the church from 11:00 am until the time of service.  Interment will follow at Abington Hills Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Lawrence E. Young Funeral Home, Clarks Summit.
