Genevieve Mullen, 84, of Tunkhannock passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at Elan Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation, Scranton. She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Mullen, in 1994.
Born on December 27, 1940, in Queens, NY, she is the daughter of the late John Battillo and Sophie (Kloszewski) Deebold.
Throughout her remarkable life, Jeannie called many places home, including Florida, Montana, New Jersey, and Long Island, NY, before finally settling in Tunkhannock.
Jeannie was known for her kind spirit, quick wit, and generous heart. She had an innate ability to touch the lives of those around her, always ready with a helping hand for anyone in need. Her warmth and compassion left a lasting impact on all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A woman of deep faith, Jeannie took great pride in her strong Catholic beliefs and was a devoted member of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church.
Jeannie was a beloved sister to Meryl Silipigni, John Battillo, Barbara Replogle, and Susan Hoeler. She was also previously married to John Candeloro.
She is survived by son, James Ginas; daughter, Barbara Costella from first marriage to James Ginas Sr.; 6 beautiful grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; several cherished nieces and nephews along with extended family members.
Family and friends are invited to attend Jeannie's Mass of Christian Burial which will be held on October 4, 2025, at 10:00 AM from Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Church, 99 E. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 to be celebrated by Rev. Patrick Albert and Deacon Ray Pieretti. Interment will follow in Pieta Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of Mass on Saturday.
