Genevieve Shemanski

Genevieve M. Shemanski, 81, of Factoryville passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton. She is survived by her husband of 35 years, John Shemanski.

Born on August 30, 1941, she is the daughter of the late John and Bernice Buberniak.

Genevieve was a kind-hearted woman with a lovely smile and bright eyes. She enjoyed life to the fullest and had many hobbies and interests that brought joy to her daily routine. She loved gardening and spent countless hours tending to her beautiful flowers. Her green thumb was undeniable! Genevieve also loved traveling and exploring new places. One of her most cherished memories was going on the Celtic Thunder Cruise with her husband. In addition to gardening and traveling, she enjoyed coloring.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by sons, James Obelkevich and wife Diana, Paul Obelkevich and wife Sandy, Shawn Shemanski; daughter, Jennifer Strouse and fiancé Michael; brother, Jack Buberniak; 9 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Genevieve leaves behind many memories for those who knew her best - especially those who were fortunate enough to have visited her home- which could be described as nothing less than serene owing to her perfectly manicured garden with colorful flowers aplenty.

Family and friends are invited to attend Genevieve's memorial service which will be held on Friday, June 16, 2023 at 12:00 PM from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657 with Rev. John Shaffer presiding. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.

A viewing will be held from 10:00 AM until the time of service on Friday.
