Gerald M. Maholchic

Gerald M. Maholchic, 86, of Tunkhannock passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at home. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Violet (Kovalesky) Maholchic.

Born on September 19, 1939, in Carbondale, he is the son of the late George and Clare (Wasley) Maholchic.

Gerald was a proud graduate of Mayfield High School. He served his country with honor in the United States Army Reserves, showing his dedication and commitment to his country. For many years, Gerald worked as a finance supervisor for the United States Post Office in Kearny, New Jersey.

An avid sports enthusiast, he cherished following his favorite teams, with a special devotion to Notre Dame football. He also found great joy in traveling alongside his beloved wife. Additionally, his love for reading provided him continual enlightenment and enjoyment throughout his life.

He also found pride and fulfillment in his involvement with the Knights of Columbus, an organization that reflected his values of faith and community service.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Gene, William, and James Maholchic; sister, Mary Lou Hennigan.

Family and friends are invited to attend Gerald's visitation which will be held on Thursday, June 11, 2026, from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM from the Marcho, Sheldon, and Kukuchka Funeral Home & Cremation Care, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:00 PM following the visitation on Thursday.
