Helen Naughton, 81, a resident of Clarks Summit, peacefully went to be with her Lord on Friday morning in the safety and security of her beloved daughter, Michele, who was by her side at her home in Dalton.
Born in Jessup, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Mary (Greenfield) Matthews. Helen lived a full and meaningful life. Prior to her retirement, she worked at Gertrude Hawk Chocolates where she made lasting friendships. She was a devoted mother to her three children who she shared with the love of her life, her husband Patrick Edward Naughton who preceded her in death on October 12, 2011.
Helen will be remembered as a compassionate woman strong in her faith so much that one of her fondest memories was being a Sunday School teacher at St. Paul's in Taylor. She was also active in Boy & Girl Scouts and guided and watched over all her children's childhood friends as her own. No one left hungry in Helen's presence. Helen was an excellent cook as well, deemed "Haluski Lady" to all who knew her. When she became a grandmother, she embraced her role and shared her selfless love with her blossoming family.
Helen and her husband were committed members of Hickory Street Presbyterian Church where she served as an ordained Deacon. She knew how to enjoy her time with beloved friends and had the ability to make everyone laugh with her quick wit. She enjoyed her fellow Eastern Star sisters at the Martha Washington Chapter Acacia Lodge Hall #579 in Taylor. Helen was strong in her faith that never wavered. She heard His calling and was led home to be with her beloved husband and grandson Noah, safe in God's arms.
