Holly F. Rogerson, 68, of Clarks Summit, formerly of Langhorne, PA, surrounded by her husband and daughter, went home to be with the Lord on Friday August 29, 2025, after a long battle with vascular dementia.
Born in Trenton, NJ on December 8, 1956, to the late Charles K. Rich and Genevieve Barbour Rich, Holly's family lived in Yardley, PA where she grew up attending Pennsbury High School, graduating in 1974. She attended Slippery Rock University earning a B.A. in Special Education. Growing up, Holly loved dancing and singing, being a girl scout, playing with her two sisters and neighbors, and performing famously in the play Brigadoon. She met the love of her life in 1980 and married in 1982, beginning her biggest achievement, starting a beautiful family. Holly and Craig would celebrate 43 years of marriage in October.
Holly worked as a claims trainer and eventually the director of Claims Department for UFLIC and GE until 2007. She then began working as a church secretary for Redeemer Lutheran Church until her retirement in 2023. Holly was a great boss and mentor to many of her co-workers who became lifelong friends. After retirement, Holly and Craig relocated to Clarks Summit to be closer to their daughter and her family.
If you knew Holly, you were a witness to one of the most faithful, kind, and compassionate human beings to ever walk this earth. She exuded a love that was impossible to doubt. She never met a stranger as she was always kind and striking up a conversation with anyone she met. Holly was an example of grace and dignity when walking through difficult times. She was always there to lend a helping hand or just to listen. Her smile and laugh were contagious, and she was the very best friend anyone could ask for.
Holly was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. From being a girl scout leader to helping with the high school car show, she was always involved in the community. Holly was also extremely active in church life, serving as lay leader and Sunday school teacher for many years. Her pride and JOY were her family and three grandchildren. She always said being a Grammy was such JOY! Holly was the best mother Sarah could have ever asked for. She beamed with pride and was always supportive in everything that Sarah did. Holly was her family's biggest fan. Faith, family, and community were at the core of Holly's heart.
And at the end of life- what more can you ask for, then to love and be loved. And Holly did just that.
Holly is survived by her loving husband and best friend Craig, her daughter Sarah Shoener and her husband Bill, of South Abington Township; her three grandchildren, Grace, Ben, and Jacob Shoener; her sisters Carrie Herbert and husband Mark of Yardley, PA and Jada Martin and husband Tim of Fairless Hills, PA; brother-in-law Keith Rogerson and wife RoAnne of Plainfield, N.H., and brother-in-law Paul Rogerson and wife Sheryl of St. Augustine, FL; as well as many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Holly was preceded in death by her in-laws, Walter and Naomi Rogerson, and a brother in-law, Mark Rogerson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Helenmae Newcomer, for her care, compassion and guidance during Holly's illness. Additionally, they would like to thank Home Instead Caregivers and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their care of Holly.
A celebration of Holly's beautiful life will be held for family and friends, on Saturday November 15, 2025, with visitation from 12pm-1pm and service at 1pm, to be held at Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit, PA 18411. The family invites you to join them after the service for fellowship and a meal.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to two charities that were extremely close to Holly's heart, Katie's Place Clubhouse, 247 Penn Ave, Scranton, PA 18503 or katiesplaceclubhouse.org and The Children's Heart Foundation, childrensheartfoundation.org.
