James L. Johnson

James L. Johnson entered into rest in the house of the Lord, on August 3, 2022.

Born on September 2, 1952, in Tunkhannock, PA, to Smith and Catherine (Jean) Johnson. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Shirley; sons, Matthew and Joel, of Alexandria, VA; and siblings, Searl Johnson, of Tunkhannock, PA, and Anne Knopf, of Stuart, Florida. 

For over 30 years, Jim (JJ) had an exemplary career in Federal Law Enforcement. He began his career with the FBI and retired from the US Secret Service, where he worked as a Forensic Scientist as an expert fingerprint identification specialist. 

He also served as the 36th President of the Chesapeake Bay Division of the International Association for Identification. Jim loved the ocean, the Washington Nats, his second home in Tunkhannock, crime novels and shows, crossword puzzles, and puns. His deep faith and love for God never wavered. Faithful to the end.

Family and friends are invited to attend James’ funeral service which will be held on Friday August 12, 2022 at 12:00pm from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock, PA 18657. Interment will follow in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
