James E. Lunger 85 of Gahanna, OH formerly of Tunkhannock died Tuesday at St. Ann’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio. He was born in Fishing Creek Twp., Columbia Co. Pa. on April 1, 1923 son of the late Furman and Mary Edwards Lunger. He was an Army Veteran of WW2 serving in the Philippines. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Penelec for over 35 years. He enjoyed baseball and was active in the Tunkhannock Baseball Association, serving as coach for Turrell’s little league team for many years. He was a faithful supporter of the St. Louis Cardinals. He was preceded in death by his wife Rita E. Baker Lunger, and a sister Dorothy Heinrich. Surviving is a daughter Sharon and husband Robert Donahue, Gahanna, OH; a granddaughter and her husband Stephannie and Bill Boone of Gahanna, OH; great granddaughters Elizabeth Donahue and Lindsey Boone; step-grandson Carter Boone. Brother-in-law and his wife Paul and Silvia Baker of Durham, NC. Brothers and sister in laws Donald and Emily Lunger of Falls; Robert and Jane Lunger, Dalton; Vernon and Betty Lunger, West Chester; Leo and Evelyn Lunger, Shrewsbury, Pa.; Furman and Dorothy Lunger, Jr., Springville; sisters and brother in laws Annabelle and Gerald Sands, Tunkhannock; and Margaret and John Roberts, South Point, OH. Many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10 am from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home Inc. 73 W. Tioga St. Tunkhannock. Interment will be in Sunnyside Cemetery, Tunkhannock. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday 6 to 8. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
